How to Grow Your Blog Organically And Go From 1000 Visits Per Month To 10k Visits Per Month

Organic blog growth is one of the most important kinds of growth you should want.

Because it sends you the most targeted traffic. It’s one of the most effective ways to build an authentic audience and fan base for your blog. It takes more time, consistency and patience, but it’s worth the effort.

Let’s explore a step-by-step guide for getting traffic from search engines naturally.

After reading this you will learn how to boost your blog traffic organically and go from 1 000 visits per month to 10k visits per month.

1st Step: Topic Research

To increase your blog traffic, topic research really is the first step.

Because even if you have great content your Ultimate Goal is to rank your blog, right?

And to rank on Google we have to find a topic that can be ranked.

It’s actually very simple!

1. Use a Topic Research platform

You can use Long Tail Pro’s step-by-step system to discover thousands of profitable, targeted keywords and see Keyword Competitiveness for almost any type of business.

This step is really important but so simple.

What do you need to do?

Create a keyword project in Long Tail Pro and search for valuable keywords you want to research like in the image below.

2. Assess the keyword competitiveness

Check the score under Keyword Competitiveness (available only for Long Tail Platinum).

Note: If you have LT Platinum, you should try and aim for a score of around 35 or less). A higher score means that you might have difficulty ranking on the first page for that keyword.

3. Find valuable long tail keywords

Now you can start selecting the suitable keywords and add them to your content.

Keywords selection is one of the important steps in writing blog posts. Targeting the right keywords helps you rank your page higher and drive the right traffic from search engines.

The best way to create quality content is to select a target keyword and two or three synonyms (LSI keywords  – Latent Semantic Indexing keywords).

Better content provides better user engagements and search rankings.

So that’s how a topic research platform can be really useful to do research and find potential keywords to use in your blog posts that will reach the first page.

2nd Step: Share Your Best Content

Words represent power. Words determine engagement rate.

And if you succeed in writing compelling content that is useful for readers, they will keep coming back for more.

Exciting, high-quality content is the key factor to increase blog traffic.

But you need to create content that both people and search engines love.

So, how do you do that?

It’s simple.

Optimize your on-page content and make sure you use your keywords correctly.

What this means?

1. Use Keywords in meta-description and page content

The search engine must be able to determine the meaning of a fragment, and this is not done by repeating a single keyword. But by using your keyword or key phrase in different ways and in different contexts throughout the content.

To do that you can change the grouping or order of words in the key phrase and use it in different styles of sentence structures.

There are four main places where you must add your focus keyword to improve the search engine optimization (SEO) for your blog:

  • page titles
  • meta descriptions
  • ALT tags
  • a page’s body content

Also, include LSI keywords in your content to gain a competitive edge in the organic search results. LSI keywords are keywords semantically related to your main keyword. It helps the search engines to understand your content topic.

2. Use title tags

Your title tag is the most important on-page SEO factor because it plays a big role in whether someone will click on a result or not. Also, title tags are a major factor in helping search engines understand what your page is about.

In order to write the best title tag, you need to think like your clients and use for your title keywords that a person would type into a search box to look for you or a business like yours. That’s why your title tag should include your most relevant and desired keywords you want to rank for and have up to 60 characters – to appear completely in search engines.

3. Add modifiers to your title

In SEO, modifiers are words like “best”, “2018”, “offers”, “buy”, “cheap” and “reviews”. Usually, users tend to include modifiers in when searching and when scanning the web pages. So modifiers can help you rank for long tail versions of your target keyword.

4. Publish long content

Studies show that long-form content tends to outrank shorter content. Why?

When you write long, in-depth content you naturally include more LSI keywords which make search engines rank your post higher. Search engines want to show users the best result for a given keyword, and if your page provides someone with a comprehensive answer to what that person is searching for, the search engine will rank you high on the first page.

Also, longer content posts can make you look like an expert in your field and build your audience.

5. Inbound and outbound URLs

It is important to add both inbound and outbound links, not just to get SEO benefits, but also to give visitors an easier browsing experience.

Important elements in link optimization are:

  • using anchor keywords;
  • using keywords in link structure;
  • using permalinks.

Search engines use outbound links as an on-page ranking factor. The question is how you can use them on your site? It’s simple. Include two to five outbound links to authority resources in every single article.

But what about inbound links?Whenever you publish a new piece of content make sure to link back to two to five older pages on your site.

6. Image optimization

If your site includes images, they need to be SEO optimized because Google is not able to view and interpret images as people do. To identify and differentiate images, Google reads the titles and alt-tags associated with the images.

7. URL optimization

In general, shorter URLs are preferable over longer ones. Use short URLs up to 100 characters and include one or two relevant keywords in your URL.

8. Headline Optimization

The Heading structure of your website pages is one of the most important features of on-page SEO techniques. It specifies which parts of your website page content are important

Note: You can use six headings: H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, and H6, but the most important is H1. H2 is used for sub-headings.

Free tip: Make sure that you add focus keyword in your H1 heading and at least one subheading.

3rd Step – Optimize your content

It is not enough to produce content, do some quick marketing and then forget about the content you worked so hard on.

A simple content optimization process can help you get more value from what you’re putting out there.

By looking back at the content you’ve already launched into the world and improving it.

1. Use Google Search Console (GSC) for content optimization

If you are not using Google Search Console, you are missing out on an important tool that can help you improve the performance of your articles.

With GSC, you can check if the content you previously created needs a helping hand. All you need to do is go to Search Traffic -> Search Analytics and click on Pages and Positions.

Then look at which keywords have the most clicks. Once you do that, it will be easy to detect which keyword should be the focus keyword and which LSI keywords.

2. Do on-page optimization

Now go back to the on-page optimization part and add additional information, keywords, images, helpful content and then re-share the page to improve its rank.

The best thing is, you can build traffic for your site only by using these 3 steps.

And here is the proof:

We created an article based on thorough keyword research, got 0 backlinks and kept optimizing the post and adding more information.

In less than 5 months it started to bring 1 000 new users to our page.

On top of that, it’s displayed as a featured snippet:

We didn’t stop here.

We replicated this technique and wrote 10 more articles using this strategy.

And results were amazing, we reached more than 10k organic visits per month.

Now back to you

Only with hard work you can achieve great results. And if you want more organic traffic, you have to work for it.

The best thing is, it’s not as hard as it might seem. Once we discovered how easy it is we wanted to share this strategy with everyone.

So, here’s your checklist to 10k organic traffic per month:

  1. Do proper keyword research
  2. Create stellar content creation and on-page optimization
  3. Check the data and do content optimization every 3 months

Best of luck!

  1. HS, propping up and prepping old content for the modern day is an easy way to grow your blog organically. I usually edit 2-3 posts daily, adding my eBook widget, improving formatting and making sure I delete dead links. Easy peasy way to boost your traffic because when you edit and promote old posts, and keep publishing new posts, a whole new world of exciting opportunities opens up for you. You will appear to be all over by merely using what you already have in your content arsenal. Rocking post.

  21. We were inspired to research and write this essay after reading 15 Reasons I Think You Should Blog, in which he discusses 15 great reasons why you should start a blog. Why being the key word here. In other words, he talks about the purpose of blogging, not just how to start a blog. That’s what all these other blogs about blogging seem to miss; they miss the purpose—the why behind starting a blog.

  22. Thanks for this informative post. I run a couple of blogs but they get very less traffic. May be due to the fact that I don't SEO optimize content. This post, I am sure, will help me to optimize my posts, rank better and get organic traffic. Thank you again.

  23. Thanks for such an informative tool. Completely agree with you that unique and powerful content can not perform at its best until SEO optimization is done. I use to spend hours in research and writing unique content but it didn't gave me the benefit until i did proper marketing of my stuff.

  24. Excellent tips Helvis.

I always love reading articles around increasing search traffic and I’m doing SEO for over a decade now and I know SEO is a huge ocean that changes almost every single month.

But there are few things related to SEO that will never change such as creating timeless content, attracting quality links, focusing on giving the best experience to your website users, knowing the searcher intent and so on.

As you said, keyword research is the key to SEO success but most bloggers don’t do it all or do it all wrong by targeting short tail keywords with high competition. That’s why one should always target long tail keywords (using tools like LSI Graph, SEMrush etc) with low search volume (preferably below 1000 monthly searches).

It’s also important to optimize your posts for the target keywords nicely by inserting in title tags, meta description, image alt tags and so on. The fastest way to increase search traffic with your content is to attract as many quality links as possible through guest posting, email outreach, infographics etc.

Thanks for sharing your tips Helvis, keep rocking bro.

  25. Thanks Helvis. Really nice post and easy for beginners to understand. Besides Longtail Pro, Keyword finder is also good and can be used free of charge – but with a limited amount of keywords. I use KW Finder together with Ubersuggest which is completely free. And then there’s Google suggest too. I find that a combination of these works wonders. Thanks again for the post.
