10 Business Blogs to Bookmark

“Activity feels hard. Inspired action feels wonderful.”
Sally Foley-Lewis

The first in a  new Top 10 Blogs series. My blog topics and interests are wide: business, social media marketing, success and travel. Of course, they’re all interrelated – being successful in life and running your own business, using social media to help you, and loving travel or the freedom to live and work anywhere you please. If you’re reading this hopefully we share the same range of interests so I’m in good company.

But most bloggers stick to one topic and I want to highlight some business blogs. There are a zillion blogs out there, many of them are excellent but I can’t list them all. What I’ll do is recommend a variety of niche business blogs that are excellent resources, and unveil some newish bloggers who are a great addition to the business blogging scene.

Please note: the list isn’t in order – that would be like asking me to choose which of my kids I like best. Plus, some amazing bloggers and blogs have been left out because of the limit of 10, so I’d love you to add your favourite blog in the comments below. But there’s more information about that at the end, let’s get the ball rolling now.

1. Helen Crozier

Helen CrozierHelen Crozier is the Business Productivity Genius who transforms technology into productivity. You know all those little things you wish you could do with your gadgets but can’t work out? Helen will have them up and running fast. She even got her old dad hooked up with an iPad recently. It’s wonderful to meet a technology smart woman who knows what it feels like when you can’t figure the technical things out, and shows you how to do it. Helen has a special offer running this month where she makes your technology wish for your business come true. Follow Helen on Twitter for technology tips.

2. Eduard Ezeanu

3. Abby Kerr

Business blogger - Abby KerrMe and Abby Kerr go way back. Well, not really, because we only just “met” on Facebook a few months ago, but after a quick look at Abby Kerr Ink it was love at first sight. Not only is she utterly gorgeous, she can also deliver the goods you need to help your business succeed. Like me, Abby’s a copywriter who helps budding and burgeoning entrepreneurs with guidance and inspiration to make their business succeed. She’s passionate about blogging and social media. You can follow Abby on Twitter.

4. Chris Guthrie

Business blogger Chris GuthrieChris Guthrie is a full time Internet entrepreneur who’ll teach you how to make money on the Internet. Chris showed early signs of his entrepreneurial skills by selling Pokemon cards on Ebay when he was still in high school. After school he worked in IT, but it wasn’t until he got he got fired that he started focusing all his energies on his Internet businesses. I like Chris’s style because he sets the bar high and recently wrote My 20 Year Goal – Buy the Guthrie Castle. Fantastic stuff – the castle is a 55 room estate on 156 acres already owned by another American business man.  Read Chris’s blog to find out how he escaped the corporate world and started working from home. Follow Chris on Twitter.

5. Cori Padgett

Business blogger Cori PadgettCori Padgett created Big Girl Branding. She’s a blogger, ghost blogger and web writer with some sweet tricks up her sleeve, who doesn’t mind sharing them. I like Cori’s story because she’s a young mum who’s found a way to earn a living from home, and support herself and her kids, while also making sure other people succeed in business. Not only is Cori a great source of advice on social media and business marketing, but she’s also an excellent role model for young women and funny too. Follow Cori on Twitter.

6. Robin Dickinson

Business blogger Robin DickinsonIf you’ve seen me mention Robin Dickinson before there’s a reason for that. I’ve experienced his business mentoring skills first hand and count on him to keep my nose to the grind stone and bring my focus back to what business is all about: making money. He has his work cut out. You’ve probably already read Robin’s blog Radsmarts, but you should also invest in his Success with Twitter video program and enjoy his Black Chair business video series. He only makes one two minute video each week but they’re gold. Follow Robin on Twitter.

7. Cheryl Ragsdale

8. Corbett Barr

Business blogger Corbett BarrCorbett has a gorgeous looking blog called Think Traffic where I always enjoy a good read and find heaps of interesting ideas about online business marketing. Hitting on the idea that all businesses want more traffic on their websites, Corbett’s advice focuses on how to get that traffic and keep it once you get it.  It’s all packaged quite brilliantly as audience-building advice for your startup, small business or side hustle. Follow Corbett on Twitter.

Sally’s a trainer, speaker and coach who’ll help you work out where you want to be and how to get there fast. If you want to fast track your path to executive success, Sally’s the woman for the job. The interesting thing about Sally is she hasn’t got a blog yet but she’s getting there. In the meantime, we’ll have to content ourselves with the wonderful micro-blogging and career inspiration on Sally’s Facebook page and on Twitter.

10 Yaro Starak

Business blogger Yaro StarakYaro Starak is one of those evil geniuses who makes his living from affiliate marketing and teaches other people how they can do it too at Entrepreneur’s Journey. But I’ve been reading Yaro’s blog for a year and chatted with him twice, only to discover he’s not really that evil. In fact, he’s a genuine man who’s smartly focusing on the 20/80 rule, where he invests 20% of his time on the things that make him 80% of the money. Genius, maybe. Evil, not really ~ Yaro’s hell bent on manifesting positive change in the world, and if you want to find out how you can change the world, Yaro has some cool ideas. Follow Yaro on Twitter.

That’s if from me. Add your business blog recommendation below and tell us why you like it in one or two sentences. Let’s make this list a living resource people can come back to. If it happens to be your blog that’s fine, but let’s stay focused on business blogs because I’ll be doing Top 1o Blogs for other topics like personal development, social media and travel later in the series. Please use this format to make it easy for people to use:

Business blog name:

Why the blog’s brilliant:

Also, usually I say no links in the comments but this time feel free to add a link but only recommend one business blog. See, it’s hard isn’t it?

PS. I could look at this post all day. It was coincidental that I ended up with five ladies and five gents, but when I realised it I simply had to seat them boy, girl, boy, girl. Of course, being a lady myself I’m especially like to know who you favourite female business bloggers are.

Thanks Red, and Annabel. Lovely surprise. Lots of people are finding The Bexter Review since it became a Blog of Note.

There are so many solopreneurs in the marketplace now – due to redundancies etc – who want easy access to no-nonsense business basics. I want to help them. For instance, I’m putting up a free podcast series about writing, for non-writers, at the moment. I set up my first business when I was 17, and was a dot com pioneer in the 90s, so I’ve got plenty of experience to share, and it’s such fun to share it.

I’ll keep an eye on your blog. It looks great!

Hi Annabel,
I’m usually skeptical when it comes to top 10 lists, however this post has converted me. It’s an interesting collection that sounds like you’ve personally use and have read. Most top 10 lists read like desperate sales pitches and are not useful. Look forward to more. My personal ones to add to the list are:
1. http://www.flyingsolo.com.au – Great resource for starting a new business for solo professionals; and
2. http://www.beyondyourwebsite.com.au – Especially for established businesses who want to get on line.
take care

I am sure you are getting excited about your upcoming adventure!
