Top 10 Blogs With Blogging Tips

We all know and love Problogger and Copyblogger. Those two blogs are the final word in blogging. Problogger’s an incredible resource and Darren Rowse is the ultimate source of knowledge on how to make money from your blog. Meanwhile Brian Clark and the Copyblogger team have the best writing on the web with the emphasis on teaching people how to write copy that sells.

These two sites are at the top of the pile but there are plenty of lesser known blogs about blogging which can also teach us heaps. Any one who’s serious about blogging should check these sites out.

Remember, they’re not in order. It’s hard enough limiting this to 10, never mind deciding who goes where!

Top 10 Blogs on Blogging

1. Site Sketch 101 by Nicholas Cardot

Blogs on bloggingNicholas has gone from nothing to 4,000 RSS subscribers and over 15,000 Twitter followers in a flash. Being a web designer I’d like to think that some of that success has to do with his gorgeous web design. I love the hand drawn look. But I’m sure a major part of Nicholas’s success is the high quality of his writing and ideas.

Nicholas can’t go to BlogWorld this year because he has obligations in the Unites States Army. When he leaves the army he’s going to study web design which will be tricky for his tutors because he’s already a font of knowledge on all things blog and web design rated. Nicholas wrote Blogging to the Third Power and he’s so good at blogging that next year he’ll probably be speaking at BlogWorld next year. If he is I want to be there to hear him.

Blogs on bloggingKeisha combines her technical and creative writing skills at We Blog Better and joins with Brandon Cox to lead a small, blog savvy group. We Blog Better covers everything from content to the latest aps and software for bloggers, with heaps of innovative ideas for competitions and giveaways to keep readers engaged.

Keisha is a web consultant, a freelance and ghost writer for the web and print, strongly involved in her local church and married with three children. If I had to describe Keisha in one word I’d say amazing.

3. Pushing Social by Stanford Smith

Blogs on bloggingStanford writes about how to use social media to turn your brand into a star. Stanford focuses on storytelling and authenticity and that’s what he teaches his readers. His writing style and blog post ideas are fresh and exciting so Pushing Social has quickly become a blog all bloggers should keep a beady eye on.

By day Stanford is Vice President of Fluency Media and how he manages to squeeze time for Pushing Social in around that and his three sons is a mystery. Stanford is building a great platform for his writing and I’ll be looking forward to reading his book when he gets time to write it.

4. Blogfcast FM by Srinvas Rao and Sid Savara

Blogs on bloggingWhat happens when two clever, curious personal development bloggers get together and create their own radio station? Blogcast FM happens. It’s a blog with podcast interviews of bloggers from around the world. I was interviewed by Srinivas and we had a lovely chin wag about all things blog related. It’s one of my favourite topics and I could gas on about it for weeks but Srinvas is good at getting his guests to spill all their blogging secrets fast.

Srini lives in LA and is a keen surfer so you can tell which one he is in the picture. I’m looking forward to meeting him at BlogWorld and hoping he’ll wear his wet suit so I can recognise him easily.

Recommended post: I want to hear all the interviews on Blogcast FM but you might want to start by listening to my dulcet English/Kiwi/Aussie tones for a laugh.

5. Kherize by Suzanne Vara

Blogs on bloggingSuzanne has one of the biggest smiles on Twitter and that always gets my attention. She’s a small business social media and advertising agency director who hails from New Jersey in the USA and now lives in Las Vegas. Yes, we will finally meet at BlogWorld.

It’s amazing that Suzanne manages to look so healthy and come out with such good social media tips on her diet of cookies, chips, salsa, salami and mozarella. But she does. I’m thinking she must eat her fruit and veggies too. Suzanne writes top tips on blogging, Linkedin, Google, Twitter and everything else we bloggers hold dear.

6. Mars Dorian by Mars Dorian

Blogs on bloggingMars has burst upon the blogging scene and made an impression as big as a giant meteor. His exuberance and passion is hard to match and his mission to help people spread their influence seems to have got off to a flying start.

We all want to say Ich bin ein Berliner but Mars actually can. He’s a cool Berliner with a passion for social media and ladies – but I should probably let you find that out for yourself. Mars injects a lot of humor into the blogging space too, just look at that brilliant photo and you’ll see what I mean.

7. Famous Bloggers by Hesham Zebida

Blogs on bloggingFamous Bloggers is a multi-author blog but Hesham started it and does a fine job leading a merry team of talented bloggers. He describes Famous Bloggers as a social network platform for tips on SEO, marketing, traffic, design, social networking and that old favourite, making money online.

Famous Bloggers has a shed load of high quality content and you might be here a while. There are a lot of techie tips on widgets, plug-ins and the like so if that’s something you want to get to grips with start here.

8. Kikolani by Kristi Hines

Blogs on bloggingKristi Hines is a prolific bloggers on her own blog and seems to pop up all over the blogosphere. She’s a self-proclaimed girl geek and social media enthusiast who enjoys photography, tennis & ballroom dancing. And guess what – she has a great smile too.

You might be starting to think that all you need to get on this list is a great smile but trust me Kristi has great blogging tips too so she’d be on the list even if she was scowling. I admit I do favour the ladies because I’d like to see more of us get to the top but Kristi definitely deserves to.

9. Smart Passive Income by Pat Flynn

Blogs on bloggingYou can’t help noticing that Pat’s also blessed with a lovely smile and I like to embarrass him by telling him that as often as I can. Pat’s a super blogger with a major blogging success story and, luckily for me, he’s a good sport too.

Pat first set up a blog to record his notes for a building design exam he was taking and ended up turning that blog into a full time and highly profitable business. Then he set up Smart Passive Income to share his tips and help other people learn from his experiences. All I can really say to that is thank you Pat.

10. Jade Craven by Jade Craven

Blogs on bloggingMy system falls apart when someone names their blog after themselves but I can’t blame Jade. She’s got a great name and she knows how to use it. Jade works behind the blogging scenes with big names like Dave Navarro but likes to keep a low profile. It won’t last. She’s a networking star who’s mastered the art of making friends and influencing people without being a slime ball.

I met her at the Problogger conference in Melbourne and she’s an incredible source of knowledge about everyone and everything. I wonder if there’s anything marketing or social media book she hasn’t read. Jade’s just a whipper snapper but she’s switched on and doesn’t miss a trick. I’m keeping my beady eye on every word she writes and you should too.

I love this list because I trust your judgment. I know I won’t be wasting time following any of these links. In a blogosphere overload with repetitive, recycled information, it helps so much to have an intelligent guide like you. Thanks.
